Sports Massage for Student Athletes

Professional athletes and their coaches have sworn by massage therapy for years, and these benefits apply to student athletes as well.

According to the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA), massage acts to improve performance, reduce pain, prevent injury, encourage focus, and speed recovery time, using a natural, drug-free approach, which is so crucial today, with so many young people addicted to opiates.  Why sit your child out on the bench when they can be recovered and playing the sport that they love instead?!

Did You Know?
Massage therapy will ease your child's stress and anxiety as well as improve their academic performance.  Massage has also been proven to treat symptoms of depression and many other symptoms which can do a world of good for your child during their school years.  A better outlook is an immediate result of a good massage session, which means a much happier, more focused student!

Single 30-minute Session $45
Five (5) 30-minute Sessions $199
Ten (10) 30-minute Session $379

Consider these benefits:
  • Massage therapy increases flexibility. For an athlete to maintain optimal performance, they must maintain a high degree of flexibility. Too many young athletes do not properly stretch, or skip it altogether! Since many soft tissue injuries arise from torn muscles due to inflexibility, massage therapy stretches the muscle fibers, flexibility is promoted and maintained. We will train your child on the proper way to stretch, when and when not to stretch and proper stretching techniques.
  • Massage therapy improves circulation. With better circulation, the athlete can breathe more easily and move more efficiently. Massage therapy creates blood flow, thus improving crucial circulation to the area of concern for their specific sport, and speeds recovery time.  The athlete then benefits from enhanced performance, which not only builds confidence but it increases their contribution to their team!
  • Massage therapy alleviates muscle pain. If an athlete is in pain due to an injury, they are not able to perform at their best. We recognize and practice the important initial R.I.C.E. method, and with regular sports massage therapy, muscle pain is curbed, and the athlete will perform better, in a fraction of the time.
  • Massage therapy promotes better sleep patterns. With regular massage work, athletes can actually improve the quantity and quality of sleep they are getting. Sleeping more soundly leads to optimum athletic performance, not to mention academic performance and overall health.
  • Massage therapy increases relaxation levels. Research shows that many athletes have a “Type-A” personality and have a hard time relaxing, and stress can affect an athlete’s overall health. Massage puts one’s body and mind in a relaxed state, thus reducing the negative physiological effects of stress.
